Yeah. We've already discussed it extensively ( http://competitiveintelligence.ning.com/forum/topics/ci-in-economy-and-politics ). Therefore, let me add only the following argument.

Dear Pavol, Ethics is the basis of conduct, which is perceived through individual morality and society’s norm of what is "good or bad", "right or wrong". :- Stealing is immoral A code of conduct is a statement of ethical practices or guidelines to…

I would like to add specific question I think is related to Pavol's. It is related to question of misrepresentation and specifically using "mistery shopping" (whether on our own or using specialised agencies) for benchmarking competitors' offers (or…

Yes, Pavol, but I'm afraid you've asked too provocative question. Most of us share here the stand which so clearly appears, for example, in dissertation already quoted by me ( http://competitiveintelligence.ning.com/xn/detail/2036441:Comment:24363 )…

Another question: Do the words "pup" and "mole" ( http://fedcba.ning.com/xn/detail/2516803:Comment:7311 ) appear also in CI jargon? :-)

Competitive Intelligence cycle is used by: 1. Credit Reporting Companies 2. Private Investigators 3. Detectives 4. Market Reasearch 5. Risk Management. If you confine CI to OSINT then the others use Semi-Active Intelligence and Active Intelligence…

Let me put a question to your question: Do CI Professionals rummage through underclothes like Detectives ( http://fedcba.ning.com/video/peril-at-end-house )? I dare suppose CI Professionals don't. ;-)

Profile Information

About Me:
As a director and senior consultant of MARKETiN, I have led and conducted numerous market research, competitive intelligence and strategy consulting projects, especially for leading global companies from heavy-industry and related business-service sectors, and assisted them in entering Slovak, Czech and other CEE markets. Besides my experience as a business strategy and marketing trainer for various companies, I also acted as a marketing lecturer at the University of Economics in Bratislava. Prior to establishing MARKETiN in 2003, I worked for such companies as Euromonitor International, Bauer Consulting, Accor Services, Ability Development and Satur Travel. I have recieved a masters degree in Trade & Marketing and Ph.D. in Industrial & Cross-Sectoral Enonomics at the University of Economics in Bratislava. I am fluent in English, Slovak and Czech, and able to understand some German, Spanish and Russian.

My Interest in Competitive Intelligence is:
I search for local CI consultants/partners based in Central and Eastern European countries for cooperation on projects in their home countries.

I also seek CI consultants/practitioners around the globe who need or might need help with projects in CEE countries.

And, finally, I want to learn more about CI, and share experience with other people involved in the global CI community.

Walter, I can answer this one. Ok, first "big data" players usually means HP, Oracle, SAP, IBM. These firms are extraordinarily good at handling structured data (ie numbers) in relational databases, but they don't deal well with unstructured data,…

Oh, they are doing CI, lots of it, but they call it other things, like Data mining e.g. They solve many of the same problems but from an engineering perspective Klaus

I've been turning this one over and can't find a satisfactory explanation. Why don't we see more 'big data' players doing CI consulting.  It seems to me that companies like Google, with absurdly comprehensive environmental data, doing more to move…
