About Me:
CI Consultant.
Managing Partner of AWARE

Specialist areas: CI in the United Kingdom & Europe. Online CI.

I've been part of the online community since the mid-1980s and I've been working in CI since 1988. I first got interested in the WWW in 1993. My company launched it's own web-site in 1995, and a couple of years later I gave the world's first seminar / workshop on using the Internet for CI (at the International Online Conference 1997). Since then, I've kept up-to-date in online CI and regularly offer training & research on this, as well as all other aspects of CI - from collection to analysis to dissemination.

My Interest in Competitive Intelligence is:
Everything - from what is ethical and what isn't to techniques to analysis....

Current interests are how social networking can be used in business and especially CI, and i've presented a case study on this at the International Online Information Conference 2008. I'm also constantly trying to improve my own knowledge and understanding of online competitive intelligence i.e. finding intelligence using the web and online technologies. This is an area i've developed and led workshops in - including what i believe was the world's first workshop on using the Internet for Competitive Intelligence.

Hi Arthur,

I'm also currently researching on the evolving role of social networking sites in Business Intelligence, Market intelligence and Competitive intelligence and how sematic web capabilities could further add a spearhead to it. Since you've presented a case study on the same, it would be great if you could share some of your novel insights which would be of great value for me. Looking forward to your response.

Hi Arthur,

I have always been a fan of the legendary King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

I did my schooling in a British Missionary school:

Sherwood College in Nainital, India.

I guess the credit goes to the British to what I am now ie my comprehension ability.

I am in the same position. I have been asked to run for the BOD several times. Ignoring the fact that if I do not work, I do ot bil, and if I do not bill, I do not eat (which makes BOD very costly), I do not play well with others. While have strong opinions, I can be convinced to change my mind, but by facts, not by calls to loyalty or teamwork. Maybe we should look at making the Board a true governing board, not a collection of people all doing additional work for SCIP asd well as governing.
