I thought a lot of the members here might be interested in this blog - http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/12/introducing-she-owns-it-i-didnt-know-there-were-women-out-there-like-me/

Could we do something similar for women in CI?

It was so great to see some of you at the conference! I was disappointed that I would not be able to attend the WLC luncheon, but I did thoroughly enjoy the conference this year. Some of the break-out sessions were a bit crowded but there really was an electrifying energy in the air. Anyone else want to share their feedback?

Thanks Ellen, see you there! Claudia

Here is a note from Bonnie Hohhof for the WLC Ladies at SCIP 2010 although the luncheon on Friday, March 12 is just after the conference closes. As I'm not able to attend SCIP 2010 I will be joining our WLC ladies then. Hope to see you if you're in town!

WLC conference schedule
The Champagne toast for the WLC members attending the conference will be Thursday evening (March 11) at 7 pm (right after the exhibit hall reception closes) in the Washington 4 room (on same floor as exhibit hall). The Aurora reception starts at 8:30.

The Friday (March 12) lunch 'wine and dine' is at 2:00. We will meet in the lobby (Washington, DC Marriott Wardman Park) and I will take you over to the restaurant.

Martha had mentioned dinner with Sugawara-san on Wed night. I would love to join you all and meet him, given my Japanese roots too! Let me know what you decide!

Claudia and Martha, thank you both so much, I have f/w your kind responses on to Alison, I just wish I could be with all of you -- I'll be eagerly following the Ning and the tweets, however. It's tips like the Awards breakfast that you wouldn't know if you're just looking at the online program.

You might also suggest to Allison that she sign up for the Awards Breakfast on Friday morning if it isn't already full. It's a good opportunity to see the leaders get their awards and to meet other people. Claudia

Hi Marcia
I think the schedule is in the program, but Wednesday the networking time in the exhibits area is 5:45-6:45 and on Thursday in the same place it's 5:30 to 6:30. I should be there both times. Most people consider these networking times to be one of the best things about the conference. I would also suggest to Allison that she check out the lunch roundtables on Thursday from 1-2, as well as the key takeaways panel on Friday from 12-1. Best, Claudia

Hi Martha -- Seems I may at last get to have dinner with Dr. Sugasawa and yourself? (Not sure I have the right spelling!) Remember this time last year as we searched for a restaurant!

Walter, I can answer this one. Ok, first "big data" players usually means HP, Oracle, SAP, IBM. These firms are extraordinarily good at handling structured data (ie numbers) in relational databases, but they don't deal well with unstructured data,…

I've been turning this one over and can't find a satisfactory explanation. Why don't we see more 'big data' players doing CI consulting.  It seems to me that companies like Google, with absurdly comprehensive environmental data, doing more to move…
